La Serena: to see the Stars in your Room, in Elquidomos

Itinerary: 4 Days / 3 Nights

    Elquidomos is the first Astro-hotel in Chile, located in the middle of the Elqui Valley, famous for its energy and clear sky all year round. Elquidomos is a set of 5 Edocomos, exclusively furnished for you to enjoy the magic and transparency of Elqui Valley skies, and nature. You will be able to enjoy the skies from your bed because the ecodomos have the main bedrooms on the second storey with a detachable ceilings. This will make your astronomy experience real.

DAY 1: LA SERENA / PISCO ELQUI

  • Reception at airport in La Serena and transfer to Pisco Elqui. In the evening, enjoy a briefing about the stars and its constellations, while observing the stars from a telescope. Accommodation at Elqui Domos.

DAY 2: PISCO ELQUI

  • (Breakfast - Lunch - Dinner)
  • A half day excursion to the vineyards where “Pisco”, a national alcoholic beverage made of grapes, is produced. Lunch in solar kitchens. Horseback-riding at night to appreciate one of the clearest skies in the world, excellent for star gazing (weather permitting). Accommodation at Elqui Domos.

DAY 3: PISCO ELQUI / VALLE DE ELQUI (VALLEY) / VICUÑA / LA SERENA

  • (Breakfast - Lunch)
  • A morning excursion through Elqui Valley. Lunch in Vicuña Town, home of the Nobel Prize winner, poet Gabriela Mistral. In the afternoon, transfer to La Serena. Accommodation in La Serena.

DAY 4: LA SERENA

  • Tour around this beautiful city, viewing its colonial architecture, distinguishing temples, and convents, out of which the 17th Century Cathedral and Temple of San Francisco, stands out. The tour continues on visiting Del Mar Avenue and Faro Monumental (Lighthouse Monument), San Francisco de Aguirre Avenue, and the handicrafts market of La Recova. Also visiting Coquimbo to see the Cruz del Milenio (Millennium Cross). At agreed time, transfer to airport in La Serena to board your flight.

La Serena: to Parks and Penguines

Itinerary: 4 Days / 3 Nights

DAY 1: LA SERENA / COQUIMBO / LA SERENA

  • Reception at airport in La Serena and transfer to the hotel. Afternoon city tour in La Serena, observing museums and neo-colonial style buildings. Visit San Francisco Church, Archaeological Museum, famous for its Diaguita Culture exhibition. Stop by at the handicraft market “La Recova”, then continue on to Colina del Pino (Pine Tree Hill) to see a marvellous view of La Serena and Coquimbo. Afterwards go to San Francisco de Aguirre Avenue, with its open air sculpture museum, and then to the Monumental Lighthouse. Bordering the coast as you pass by hotels, cabins, restaurants, gardens, Peñuela Beach and the Casino of Coquimbo. Continue on exploring this city while visiting La Herradura Beach. Return to the hotel in La Serena. Accommodation in La Serena.

DAY 2: LA SERENA / OVALLE / FRAY JORGE NATIONAL PARK / LA SERENA

  • (Breakfast-Lunch)
  • Depart for a full day excursion starting with a short visit to Ovalle, then continue on to Valle del Encanto Park, an archaeological site that contains remains of El Molle civilization, where petroglyphs and “tacitas” stones are to be seen. The trip continues to Fray Jorge National Park, declared a World Biosphere Reserve by UNESCO, since a Valdivian Rain forest is situated in a coastal desert area. This excursion takes you up to Limari River, where you can observe the flora and fauna. Return to La Serena. Accommodation in La Serena.

DAY 3: LA SERENA / PUNTA DE CHOROS / LA SERENA

  • (Breakfast-Lunch)
  • A full Day excursion to Punta Choros Bay. Upon arrival, CONAF (National Forest Corporation) personnel briefs you on the National Humboldt Penguin Reserve. After sailing for about 40 minutes you arrive to Punta de Choros Island, where it is possible to admire penguins, seals and sea lions, depending on the time of the year. Then continue sailing to “Isla Damas” (Island) where the popular bottle-nosed dolphin may be seen between white sands and turquoise waters. Return to Punta Choros Bay. Free time to enjoy the beach and take pictures. Return to La Serena. Accommodation in La Serena.

DAY 4: LA SERENA

  • (Breakfast)
  • Breakfast at the hotel. Transfer to the airport for your flight.

  • Season: All year (from September to April you can see the bottle nose dolphins)

Calama: Explora in Atacama

Itinerary: 5 Days / 4 Nights

    An excellent alternative to see San Pedro de Atacama is Explora because it has several excursion choices daily, which can be chosen depending on weather conditions and the visitor’s wishes. These can be done in a vehicle, horse back, on foot or by bicycle, always guided by an expert. Salt flats, lagoons, geysers, sand, rocks and mountains create a surreal landscape. San Pedro de Atacama’s gifts to visitors are starry nights, flora and fauna.
    Rates include: Transfer S.I.B. Airport in Calama / Lodge Explora (departures from airport between 13:00 hrs and 16:30 hrs). Lodging according to the nights scheduled, full board and open bar, bilingual guides, daily excursions, vehicles and meals during excursions, transfer S.I.B. from lodge / Airport (arrival to airport between 11:00 hrs and 13:00 hrs). Transfer length is around 2 hours.
    Family rates for children (until 18 years old) accompanied by their parents, subject to availability, children in separate room not applicable to single room. Additional bed for children (under 12 years old) in the same room as their parents. Maximum 1 additional bed per room. Rio Paine room does not allow an extra bed.
