Salvador, Brazil: to Dinner Show, City Tour

Itinerary: 3 Days / 2 Nights

DAY 1: SALVADOR

  • Arrive at Salvador airport and transfer to the hotel. By Night with dinner and a show at Miguel Santana. The show takes place in the 18th century colonial complex Solar do União which had it's own church, manor house and slaves quarters, in the old stockrooms and is a showcase of the Candomble; the manculelê, a stick and sword dance from the cane fields; the dance of the caboclo, an Amerindian hunting dance; capoeira, a martial art/dance of Angolan origin and the samba de roda, a spinning, swirling version of this exuberant national dance. Not always available on Sundays. Dinner can be included upon request. Accommodations in Salvador.

DAY 2: SALVADOR

  • A half day historical city tour. Discover the essencial sights of Salvador on a half day tour tracing the development of the city from its simple beginnings to the what is now the third largest city in Brazil. After hotel pick up with private Essential Salvador takes you to the mouth of the immense bay and then via elegant tree-lined avenues and bustling city streets to the Pelourinho, a Unesco Heritage site and the largest complex of colonial architecture in the South America. We leave the vehicle at the Muncipal Square, by the towering Lacerda Elevator, with great views of the bay stretching out to the lower city, and stroll through the narrow, bustling streets lined with buildings in pastel shades of an age gone by, soaking in the sights and sounds of this vibrant city. We visit the church of São Francisco with its exuberant gold-leafed Baroque interior and the Pelourinho square, the heart of the old town. Accommodations in Salvador.

DAY 3: SALVADOR

  • (Breakfast)
  • A full day Schooner Cruise. After our transfer from the hotel, we board a comfortable schooner and cruise to two of the 36 islands in this sparkling bay, a day of rest and relaxation with great views of the city both on the outbound and homeward journeys. Our first stop is Frades (or Monk's) Island. Virtually uninhabited, the island is home to some of the best beaches in the bay. Here we have ample time to swim in the warm inviting waters, or relax in the sun or the shade, and there is never a cold drink too far away! Then we continue our cruise to the larger Itaparica Island for lunch. The colonial town of Itaparica just a short distance by local transport for those interested visiting this charming waterfront town. (optional) We return to the schooner, raise anchor and set off for Salvador with the setting sun flooding the city in its warm glow. Accommodations in Salvador de Bahia.

DAY 4: SALVADOR

Manaus, Brazil: to Amazon Eco Park Lodge in the Amazon

Itinerary: 3 Days / 2 Nights

    Located in the midst of lush jungle, just half an hour by boat from Manaus. It is located at the Tarumã River Bank - a tributary of Negro River - in the Amazon Jungle and only 30 minutes by boat from Manaus (20 km from Tropical Hotel Pier). Land transfers are operated in air conditioned cars, vans or deluxe buses. The Amazon Ecopark River Cruise is operated on board the Ecopark lodge's own regional boats. Transfers are operated 24 hours a day at no additional costs. All the comforts of home in a most exotic setting. It offers 60 rooms and 2 restaurants. The Ecopark is known for its unique and pioneer course of survival in the rainforest: bilingual guides with ample knowledge of the area will teach you how and where to find edible fruits and potable water, learn first aid, to build a shelter, to make bridges of ropes, to find your way in the forest and so much more. DAY 1: AMAZON ECO PARK LODGE

  • Transfer to the lodge reception. During a 30 minute transfer to the Amazon Ecopark the visitor will receive historical and geographical information about the Amazon. Upon arriving, the visitor is briefed about the infrastructure of the park, after which the guide will lead a nature walk throughout the property. During the walk, explanation will be given regarding the local fauna and flora. The adventure continues to the "Monkey Jungle" where researchers are working with rehabilitating monkeys, which have been captive. Today these monkeys roam free in Ecopark. Go alligator spotting. Dinner. Accommodations.

DAY 2: AMAZON ECO PARK LODGE

  • Breakfast. Natural Hike. Lunch. Visit a Caboclo house & piranha fishing. Dinner. Accommodations.

DAY 3: AMAZON ECO PARK LODGE

  • Breakfast. Visit the Monkey Jungle. Transfer to Manaus Tropical Pier.

DAY 1: IGUASSU FALLS

DAY 2: IGUASSU FALLS

  • Breakfast at the hotel. Full day Brazil and Argentina side of the Falls. Our trip begins at the National Iguassu Park where we board for a drive through the lush subtropical vegetation of park en route to the falls. Stroll the trail descending the canyon that offers the most panoramic view of more than 240 falls. Take the glass elevator up the cliff face for a view from the upper deck. The Iguassu National Park along with its “sister” park in Argentina forms the most significant remaining rainforest in the southern cone which together with the cataracts has been declared a National Heritage Site by UNESCO. For passengers staying at the Tropical das Cataratas Hotel, this tour starts walking from the hotel.Cross the Tancredo Neves Bridge on route to the Iguassu National Park in Argentina. At the entrance the passenger will take a little train for a visit through the park with 2 stops until the trail where the walking tour begins to the visit the upper walkways which allow a different and more intimate contact with the falls and the rainforest. The highlight of the trip is a visit to the suspended platform at the very brink of the abysmal Devil’s Throat, largest of the waterfalls. This trip shows you the highlights of the Argentinean side. Take the two-stage car up to the top of the Mountain and admire the marvelous view from up above. The tour also offers a panoramic tour to downtown Rio, which is a great opportunity to see some of the historical sites of the city such as the Cathedral and the Municipal Theatre.
