Hike The Entire Length of Chile: Sendero de Chile

All Southern Chile has a great review of the Sendero de Chile, a hiking trail that runs the entire length of Chile.

Well, it's just a trail. Granted, the Sendero de Chile is a very long trail by most standards. It covers the entire length of Chile, from the northern border to the very tip of South America. It includes a total of more than 9,700 km. of trekking paths. The main trail was designed to better connect the many existing trail loops of the National Parks and Natural Reserves systems that already existed in Chile, and help protect the environment while helping to promote tourism in rural areas of Chile.

Easter Island to Gain Autonomy

OhMyNews.com is reporting that Easter Island will gain administrative autonomy from Chile.

Chile is currently divided into 13 regions and includes part of Antarctica. The regions are composed of 51 provinces, which in turn are made up of 324 municipalities. Easter Island is a province and at the same time a municipality of the fifth Region of Chile, named Valparaiso.

All provinces are administratively dependent on the regions in all respects, especially so in regard to development, which is strongly involved with the country's distribution of wealth.

Chile Elects First Female President

Chilepros Travel is happy to report that voters in Chile have elected the country's first female president.

Chile president-elect Michelle Bachelet, a Socialist who will be the country's first female leader, vowed on Monday to shrink the gap between rich and poor that persists in the South American nation despite lower poverty and a thriving economy.

Bachelet, from Chile's ruling center-left coalition, won 53 percent of ballots cast in Sunday's election while opposition candidate Sebastian Pinera took 47 percent, the government Electoral Service said.

Michelle Bachelet wants to keep the economy vibrant.  This is wonderful news as the tourism industry has been active and thriving.

Bachelet, 54, takes over an economy that is expanding for a seventh year, benefiting from a surge in prices of copper, Chile's No. 1 export. A member of the coalition that has governed since former dictator Augusto Pinochet fell from power in 1990, Bachelet also inherits a record budget surplus, an inflation rate less than a third the level of neighboring Argentina and declining unemployment.

``I receive a country that's energized, prosperous, optimistic,'' Bachelet said in a victory speech from a stage in downtown Santiago last night. ``After decades of economic ups and downs, we built a vibrant economy that many want to imitate. We will continue on that road.''

CHILEPROS TRAVEL PARTICIPATES IN BUSINESS SHOWCASE AT ENTREPRENEUR OF THE YEAR AWARDS

Vancouver, BC - Chilepros Travel has participated in the Entrepreneur of the Year Awards Business Showcase that took place on October 27, 2005. President Barbara Kenchington was part of the business showcase and then attended the gala award ceremony at the Hyatt Regency Hotel where awards were handed out for entrepreneurs in several categories including Tourism / Hospitality.

Chilepros Travel was proud to participate in the Business Showcase for the Entrepreneur of the Year Awards. Our purpose is to provide our clients with as much information about Chile as possible, including aspects of Chilean entertainment, history, and culture. We carefully guide our clients in planning their vacations. Chilepros Travel will give them the opportunity to explore and experience these dreams.

As a Latin entrepreneur, President Barbara Kenchington reported that: I felt like I was right at home with the great variety of Latin music. The Samba Queen is a phenomenal Brazilian dancer! Chilepros would like to extend its congratulations to the event organizers who did a great job, to the award nominees and winners, and to the staff at the Hyatt Regency for making everyone feel so welcome.

Now in its eighth year, the awards ceremony featured a speech by business leader Peter Legge which offered sensational motivation to the aspiring entrepreneurs. Emcee Val Cole from CFUN 1410 AM kept the crowd laughing. The Entrepreneur of the Year Award 2005 was awarded to Catherine C. Ann from Consumer Connection. Her business specializes in customer service evaluations; it acts as a catalyst by providing valuable information that will help clients meet their strategic customer service objectives.

Chilepros Travel Takes Part In Chilean Wine Festival

Chilepros Travel has encountered an amazing opportunity to participate in this years Chilean Wine Festival 2005 on Sept 22nd, 2005.

The NEW Rocky Mountaineer's Vancouver location on Cottrell Street is beautiful. This loft like station was perfect. An exquisite selection of Chilean Wines combined with Chilean Huasos (Cowboy) created the perfect setting.

Proceeds benefit the Roundhouse Youth Programs.
